History of Christmas – General Information

Christmas is celebrated every year on 25th December to mark the birth of Jesus Christ, who is the central figure of Christianity. The word Christmas comes from “Christ’s Mass”, meaning a church service in honor of Christ.

Origins of Christmas

Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, around 2,000 years ago.

According to the Bible, Jesus was born to Mary and Joseph.

Angels announced his birth, and three wise men (Magi) brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Early Christians did not celebrate birthdays; Christmas became widely celebrated only after the 4th century.

Short Christmas Story

Long ago, in the small town of Bethlehem, on a cold and quiet night, a baby was born in a humble stable. His name was Jesus. There was no palace or comfort, only a manger and the gentle warmth of animals.

Angels filled the sky with light and sang songs of joy, spreading the news of his birth. Shepherds hurried from their fields to see the child, and later, three wise men followed a bright star and brought gifts for the newborn king.

Though born in poverty, Jesus brought a message of love, peace, and kindness to the world. His birth filled hearts with hope and reminded people that even the smallest beginnings can bring great change.

Every year, people celebrate this night as Christmas, sharing love, helping others, and remembering the true spirit of giving.
